< Back to Portfolio

Project Overview

  • Client: Samuel Haughton, Actor and Performer
  • Location: London
  • Industry: Theatre and Entertainment
  • Services provided: Wordpress development, SEO setup, Analytics integration
Samuel Haughton is a London based actor and performer with a vibrant personality, extensive training, and an impressive performance history including West End credits such as The Phantom of the Opera. His website needed to reflect his charm, humour, and creative flair — which is clear from the playful, informal tone used throughout his biography and homepage content.

This project involved designing and developing a distinctive WordPress site that showcases Sam’s professional journey, integrates his YouTube channel, and presents his performance credits and gallery in a visually engaging, personality driven way.

Objectives

The project centred around four core goals:

Reflect Sam's Personality

The site uses informal, conversational copy (fully originating from Sam himself), with quirky humour and relaxed tone — essential parts of his personal brand.

Create a Polaroid Style Visual Identity

Sam wanted a layout featuring polaroid style photography elements to match his expressive and nostalgic aesthetic. This visual framing helps the gallery and headshots feel personal and characterful.

Showcase Credits and Performance

The website includes a structured credits section highlighting Sam’s stage work, including his West End involvement in The Phantom of the Opera.

Integrate Sam's YouTube Channel

Sam actively posts vocal reels, performance videos and creative projects on YouTube, which are embedded throughout the site using his official channel content.

Key Features And Functionality

WordPress Development

A fully custom WordPress environment designed for performance, clarity, and future expansion.

Polaroid‑Inspired Gallery Design

A bespoke gallery uses layered polaroid frames, hand‑written style captions, and scrapbook‑like composition to enhance personality and charm.

YouTube Channel Integration

Embedding playlists and individual videos taken directly from Sam’s YouTube channel ensures his media content stays fresh and automatically updated.

Credits & Experience Section

A dedicated area outlines Sam’s training background, biography, and professional credits — including notable productions and ongoing West End involvement.

Portfolio & Gallery

Showcases behind‑the‑scenes shots, cast photography, theatrical production images, and personal profile imagery.

Informal Brand‑Aligned Copywriting

Sam’s existing playful tone (as seen in the humorous introduction on his homepage) guided the entire writing style and layout choices.

Design Approach

The creative direction embraced fun, colour, and character. Instead of a sterile “actor CV site,” Sam’s website feels like a window into his personality:

  • Polaroid‑themed visuals
  • Handwritten captions
  • Playful micro‑copy
  • Warm colour palette
  • Emphasis on storytelling through images and videos

This approach mirrors the vibrant tone Sam uses throughout his biography and site messaging, which includes conversational asides and humorous, self‑aware commentary.

The Result

The final website is lively, expressive, and unmistakably Sam — a fully branded platform that showcases his performances, personality, and growing digital presence. It’s easy to manage, media rich, and designed to support future opportunities in theatre, film and online performance.
